Niamh Murphy

Another young but vastly experienced rider, Niamh (pronounced ‘Neev’) joins us for 2025 after a season racing predominately in Belgium.

After watching Brad Wiggins win the Tour de France in 2012 Niamh was keen to explore competitive cycling, initially in Cyclocross but soon trying out all disciplines. Cycling certainly satisfies Niamh’s competitive instincts as well as providing opportunities to socialise with like minded people and explore new places.

Still to discover what type of rider she is, although we’re not sure there are traditional categories any longer for young riders, Niamh enjoys climbing but has also excelled in flat kermesse style races, so we’ll categorise her as an all rounder. She enjoys the unpredictable nature of races, reacting to things as they happen and taking opportunities when she can.

Niamh’s biggest achievement to date is her 3rd place at the Tour of Flanders Juniors in her first junior year and that has certainly set the scene for her wide experience and step up to senior level, her dream of racing the Tour de France and competing for rainbow jerseys is something we look forward to supporting.

Of course an interest in and experience of racing Belgian Classics means Niamh is more than happy to avoid the turbo-trainer in all but the most extreme conditions and even favours some Dutch House music for motivation during the heaviest interval sessions, and to distract her from the pain!

Away from the bike Niamh dreams of opening her own bakery/cafe in Spain, serving cyclists, and she carries out extensive research on her own cafe stops.

Niamh’s ideal recovery is doing nothing and eating, and she enjoys meeting up with family and friends over a meal.

With a busy schedule including races across Europe we look forward to racing with Niamh, building upon her experience and helping her achieve her goals.
