Lucy Harris
Lucy joined the team early in 2024 having made a successful start to the season, leading the National Road Series, and made her debut at the Tour of Britain.
Asked how she got into competitive cycling Lucy replied she does everything competitively and she immediately demonstrated that approach on day one of the Tour of Britain when she saw an opportunity and disappeared up the road for an epic solo breakaway that immediately marked her as a rider to watch closely.
As well as bravely defending her leaders jersey in the Road Race Series until the penultimate round, Lucy quickly fitted into and contributed to the team’s performances throughout the season and we all can’t wait to see what she’ll achieve in 2025.
Although fiercely competitive, Lucy cites her biggest achievement to date as the friendships she’s made in the sport, driven perhaps by her personal mantra to be “motivated by love, not fear”. Juggling her training and racing with full time employment as a Meteorological Data Scientist is a real challenge, as with many of the team, although Lucy does also find a little time for socialising and likes nothing more than dressing as Velma from Scooby Doo and touring the streets of Oxford in the Mystery Machine (ask her to show you the photos!).
Lucy is most definitely a winter indoor training rider and claims never to have owned a set of mudguards, she’s happiest turbo training along to techno, deep house and 80s rock music. In terms of racing style she’s another rider who defies all traditional styles, preferring to roll the dice in any and all situations and push herself to the absolute limit.
Finding her limit in cycling is Lucy’s ultimate target, to race full time and discover what her body is capable of.
We’re all excited to see what a full season will deliver for Lucy and the team, both in terms of results and the entertainment she’s sure to bring along.
