Tour of Britain Women - Race Review
So we made it to the Tour of Britain, our first Women’s World Tour race, a huge achievement for us as a small team staffed by volunteers, partners & parents.
A tough rollercoaster of a race that was extremely emotional for all involved.
Stage 1: A huge day through Wales where our new signing Lucy Harris showed our intent and went out in the attack earning the award as most combative rider.
The dream start to the race was soon shattered when we received news in the evening that Zoe’s partner was involved in a serious accident. Meaning Zoe had to go home to be at his side.
Stage 2: After a sleepless night by everyone we started the day with a team meeting, to decide our next step. We could withdraw the team from the race or go out and race for Zoe & Adam which we decided to do.
All 5 remaining riders went out, rode their hearts out and made it through the day.
Stage 3: The sprinters stage, a really good opportunity for us to put a rider up the road and gain some valuable exposure for the team and sponsors.
Jo attacked very early in the stage and was joined by Maddie Leech of Lifeplus Wahoo and the pair worked well gaining a 4 minute lead before a mechanical issue for Maddie left Jo out alone in the lead.
The sprint teams eventually reeled her in after 90km’s.
Jo was awarded the title of most combative rider for her efforts, our second visit to the podium of the week.
Stage 4: Another big day with the feared climb of The Rake in pouring rain to contend with where the race exploded.
Amy, Bexy & Jo all finished safely in the 2nd group on the road with Lucy Gadd & Lucy Harris in group 3.
For us as a team it was a great performance, 5 finishers amongst the 59 that finished the race from 90 starters on stage 1, 16 of which abandoned on the final stage.
10th Team Overall
1st domestic UCI Team
2 Combative Rider awards.
A huge thanks to everyone that helped make this happen including our helpers last week, sponsors and of course our amazing athletes.
As always we try to punch above our weight which we definitely did here.

Finally our hopes and prayers are with Zoe and Adam during this extremely tough time.
We are all here behind you and love you both very much
